Do you need help NOW? Do you feel threatened? If you feel threatened from another, you may need a restraining order. When the court issues a restraining order, the order protects you from physical, emotional, or financial abuse.

Types of Restraining Orders

There are four types of restraining orders you can request from the court:

  • DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESTRAINING ORDER (if a person with whom you have a close personal relationship, with whom you share a child, or with whom you have a close family relationship, has abused you)

  • WORKPLACE VIOLENCE RESTRAINING ORDER (You, as an employer, may seek a restraining order to protect an employee who has suffered violence or a real threat of violence at the workplace)

  • CIVIL HARASSMENT RESTRAINING ORDER (if you suffer harassment by someone who is not close to you. Harassment is violence, a threat of violence, or actions that really scare, annoy or harass you, and done on purpose and for no good reason)

  • ELDER OR DEPENDENT ABUSE RESTRAINING ORDER (If you are a victim of physical or financial abuse, neglect or abandonment, or treatment that has physically or mentally hurt you and you are at least 65 years of age or you suffer from a certain disabilities)
